We've created a CalGreen checklist of mandatory measures:
GREEN BUILDING CERTIFICATION
LEADERSHIP IN ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN (LEED)
LEED is a 3rd-party green building certification system administered through the non-profit US Green Building Council (USGBC). There are different rating systems for Building Design & Construction, Interior Design & Construction, Building Operations & Maintenance, Neighborhood Development and Homes.
GreenPoint Rated is a 3rd-party green building rating system administered through the non-profit Build It Green, located in Oakland, CA.
LIVING BUILDING CHALLENGE
The Living Building Challenge is a rigorous standard for performance in the built environment and is administered through the International Living Future Institute. To be certified under the Challenge, projects must meet a series of ambitious performance requirements, including net zero energy, waste and water, over a minimum of 12 months of continuous occupancy.
Architecture 2030 has developed targets for the building sector to reach carbon neutrality by the year 2030.
AIA 2030 Commitment
The AIA has developed a protocol and reporting program to support members in achieving the 2030 Challenge targets. In Balance Green Consulting has signed on to the AIA 2030 Commitment, and is a founding member of the AIA California Central Coast Chapter’s 2030 Commitment Team. Our long-range Sustainability Action Plan outlines our approach to meeting the AIA 2030 Commitment.
